MANLY SPRINT SERIES 16 FEB 2025![]()
High teens and gusting mid-twenties from the south didn’t make conditions pleasant for the fleet as they competed in the final 3 races of the series.![]()
RACE 4 and 3 starters in Division 1 but only 2 finishers - Mondo over Khaleesi with Absolut scoring the DNF. 4 entries in division 2 and the attrition rate wasn’t as high - all finished. The 2 J24 casual entries scoring first and second - Waterhound then Stock Car with Kia Kaha 3rd and the other J24, Koatic in 4th spot.![]()
RACE 5 and this time Khaleesi bested Mondo with Absolut scored DNS. Kia Kaha surfaced to first place in this race with Stock Car a consistent 2nd spot and Cath on Kaotic in 3 place - looks like Waterhound had the DNF this time.![]()
RACE 6 was abandoned. Sounds like it was brutal out there!![]()
Well Done to everyone who went out!![]()
The final results for the series in division 1 has Mondo in first place followed by Khaleesi and Absolut. And in division 2 Kia Kaha, Kaotic and Cheap Thrills take out first, second and third. ![]()

SUMMER SERIES RACE 7![]()
What a great day on the water! Our courses were restricted because of the SailGP exclusion zones further down the harbour so only courses 5, 8 and 9 were our options. RO Garth selected an excellent course 9 with a couple of Cannae/ Lady Bay loops, a duck down to Rocky and Edwards before rounding Grotto and heading for home.![]()
It was quite a tussle between the fleet with opportunities everywhere to improve one’s position. With newly cleaned bottom San Toy steamed through the fleet - but not quite to the leader - Cheap Thrills. However, San Toy’s nemesis was always going to be Absolut. Starting 2 minutes in front of Absolut and finishing 24 seconds ahead meant that on corrected time it was a close 7 seconds for San Toy in 2nd and Absolut in third.![]()
But who came first, you ask? It was a Happy Birthday - first across the line and first on handicap for club manager, Barry, on Cheap Thrills. Barry attributed his win to a clean bottom (Cheap Thrills) and “I always do well on my birthday”.![]()
The J24, Stock Car was snapping at the heels of the main contenders and scored the starters prize at 2 seconds, a second less that San Toy on 3 seconds.![]()
The other J24, Waterhound may have been suffering from the effects of Anthony’s wife birthday party at the club , the evening before.![]()
We’ve had 2 ABNs in this series, so it looks like no drops which leaves Ten Sixty still in front of the pack on the series. That doesn’t mean you should stop racing. It was a great day to be out on the water.![]()
Thank you Garth and Sirius crew for race committee duties and Garth for doubling up as Laser rep.![]()
